Biography
As a plastic surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in peripheral nerve surgery for acquired nerve injuries and peripheral neuropathies of the upper and lower extremities. In my line of work, I regularly perform procedures to reanimate limbs, relieve patients’ debilitating pain and restore sensation for those with nerve injuries.
As one of very few peripheral nerve surgeons in the world, I am dedicated to growing this subspeciality to improve patients’ quality of life. I always tell my patients that we are going to be good friends because nerve growth is a years-long process and I am committed to supporting them through the entire journey. My patients inspire me and it is rewarding to see them recuperate and regain function following surgery.
My research is focused on developing treatments to make nerve regrowth more efficient and faster. I am also exploring strategies for rewiring nerves with the goal of preventing muscle atrophy, restoring motion and relieving pain. I have authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in addition to other publications. I also lead a federally funded translational scientific research investigation of advanced limb reconstruction.
In addition to my clinical work, I am helping to train the next generation of physicians. I am a professor in and serve as the chair of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I also serve on the scientific advisory board for the International Symposium of Neural Regeneration, the board of the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the American Society for Peripheral Nerve.

Dr. Moore is always positive and concerned.
Dr. Amy Moore was so caring, and seemed so concerned. She advised I get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon seeing my issue wasn't mostly her area of expertise. She did recommend a certain doctor as well.
Amy Moore and her team are extremely knowledgeable and can communicate heal by th and surgical options with clarity. It is obvious their professional and academic choices are a passion.I felt a part of their conversation in making choices for my health choices. It was an educational appointment approach.
Very friendly, informative, knowledgeable
The doctor was tremendous. I sustained a rare injury and the doctor listened to my current symptoms and had a clear understanding of my medical history with the injury.
Dr. Moore was amazing! She immediately knew what my problem was and had a plan to improve it and could communicate my nerve damage and how the surgery would improve it in a way that made sense. For the first time in over a year I had hope that I could get feeling back in my foot/leg! I was so impressed with her knowledge and skill and the way she communicated with us in a way that was understandable!
Dr. Moore is great to work with and appreciate how she listens and asks questions prior to the physical examination. I always feel that we have a good plan at the end of my appointment.
Dr. Moore is truly exceptional, and I cannot recommend her enough! She has performed several surgeries for me and has been instrumental in helping me recover from complications caused by previous procedures. She has given me my life back thanks to her expertise and care. During a hospital stay for one of these complications, she went above and beyond by visiting me as an inpatient-I was absolutely in awe of her dedication. Dr. Moore listens and genuinely believes you when you describe your pain and approaches her work with incredible empathy and compassion. She treats you as an individual and not a number. Dr. Moore has talked with my other doctors about my care to ensure that there is always a plan moving forward. She is simply the best!
Nothing but great things to say. Dr. Moore and her staff are unbelievable. They treated me as if they genuinely cared and went above and beyond to help me
Dr Moore is wonderful, a very positive person
Dr. Moore took me as a last appointment. She reviewed my records, examined me and made my husband and I feel finally comfortable with the medical path forward. She is a blessing.
Very knowledgeable and informative! Caring.
Dr. Moore is an exceptional clinician and surgeon, and is a very nice person
I was extremely nervous about this visit because I had heard about Dr Moore's renown and she is difficult to get to see. Time was limited and I felt pressured to get everything said about my situation. She was going out the door as I still talking. Her examination I thought was complete and thorough and sounded like an expert- no doubt about it. But she went so fast and deep I was finding difficult to comprehend in a very short time. So I left there feeling like it was a good visit for her but I couldn't formulate any questions for clarification/understanding. I guess I felt like a piece of data but not a person. What I'm saying is that she did her good stuff but I felt my time with her was a negative experience not knowing anything more than what I thought I knew before. Everything else was "excellent". "Efficient" well executed on your part. All good there. But whiz, bang, and out the door, leaving me feeling "wow what just happened here?" And also overwhelmed because there were 3 professionals and little ol' me in the room. And I felt not believed in telling my story. And I feel really bad about that. So overall grade for that 10-15 minutes A+/F. And I have not heard back for a follow up date with the doctor or info about therapy I'm supposed to get.
Excellent medical assessment by Dr. Moore. I'm grateful to have her expertise regarding the medical issues that I am having.
Extremely knowledgeable and honest
Compassionate and attentive listener. We concerned with my physical and mental health. Very inclusive in her descriptions and committed to my understanding of my existing and anticipated condition.
Both Dr. Moore and PA Julie West are empathetic listeners, open to all my questions and concerns. Helpful suggestions to address my health issues.
Dr Moore was very thorough about my injury and explainied in detail what she was planning on doing and the procedure
